United Airlines will introduce commercial flights with SpaceX’s Starlink in-flight Wi-Fi expected to take place sometime between March and May of this year.

Testing will begin next month using Embraer E-175 aircraft, which are primarily for regional travel.

The airline plans to equip its entire regional fleet with Starlink Wi-Fi by the end of 2025.

United also intends to install the Starlink service on its first mainline aircraft by the end of this year, which is expected to be available on close to 1,000 planes.

Currently, United uses various Wi-Fi providers including Intelsat, Panasonic, and Viasat.

While other international airlines and smaller American carriers like Jsx and Hawaiian Airlines have adopted Starlink, United is the first major domestic airline to implement this technology.

Starlink offers download speeds between 40 and 220 Mbps and upload speeds of 8 to 25 Mbps, which allows streaming and video conferencing during flights.
