UNICEF offers funding opportunities to AI, blockchain startups

The UNICEF Venture Fund is now open for applications from startups in the United Nations agency’s program countries, as it seeks to invest in open-source technology aimed at improving children’s welfare.

It offers up to US$100,000 in equity-free capital to eligible early-stage, for-profit startups that focus on sectors like AI, machine learning, or blockchain startups.

The startups must be registered in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, or any of the program countries. Applications are due on December 23, 2024. Women and young founders are encouraged to apply.

The startups must have advanced technology development with a working prototype and commit to open-source licensing.

The fund is particularly interested in tackling digital challenges such as misinformation and boosting media literacy among youth.
