The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has launched an investigation into TikTok, Reddit, and Imgur over their handling of children’s privacy and data.

The probe will assess how these platforms manage personal information of users aged 13 to 17 and their age verification methods.

The ICO is examining how TikTok uses teenagers’ data to recommend content, while Reddit and Imgur face scrutiny over their age verification techniques.

If violations are found, the ICO will present evidence to the companies before reaching a final decision.

These investigations follow UK laws requiring social media platforms to safeguard children from harmful content through reliable age-checking systems.

So far, TikTok, Reddit, and Imgur have not responded to requests for comment.
