The United Kingdom government is steadfast in its commitment to the Online Safety Act, aimed at protecting children and vulnerable individuals from harmful online content, according to Technology Secretary Peter Kyle.

His remarks respond to Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg’s criticism of global content regulations, which he claims amount to censorship.

Kyle stated that “access to British society and our economy is a privilege, not a right,” reinforcing the importance of compliance with UK laws.

Although Zuckerberg’s comments do not directly mention the UK, they align with the Online Safety Act enacted last year, which mandates that platforms remove illegal content.
