UK firm NetZeroNitrogen bags $6.1m to scale biofertilizer tech
Nottingham-based AgTech company NetZeroNitrogen (NZN) has raised €5.6 million (US$6.10 million) in a seed funding round to enhance its biofertilizer technology.
This technology aims to reduce reliance on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers (SNFs) and will support key hires in ASEAN markets, certification processes, and the finalization of commercial agreements.
The funding round was co-led by World Fund and Azolla Ventures, with additional participation from Zero Carbon Capital, Revent, Kibo Invest, Ananke, and Innovate UK.
With this round, NZN’s total funding since its inception in 2022 has reached €7 million (US$8.23 million).
The new funding will also assist NZN in scaling its operations and expanding its presence in Southeast Asia, a region with substantial agricultural activity.
NZN is developing a biofertilizer using endophytic bacteria, which is said to decrease the need for SNFs while improving crop yields.
