UK fintech firm Revolut discusses $200b IPO valuation

Revolut, a London-based fintech firm, has discussed a potential IPO valuation of US$150 billion to US$200 billion with investors, even as the company said it does not plan to list before 2028 and has set no formal target.

The report follows a secondary share sale that valued Revolut at US$75 billion, while the company may pursue another secondary sale in the second half of 2026 at about US$100 billion.

Revolut received a full UK banking license and reported 2025 pre-tax profit of 1.7 billion pounds (US$2.3 billion), up 57% from a year earlier.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Revolut’s varied income streams support its valuation

  • Revolut earns money from several parts of the business. Its division for corporate customers now accounts for 16% of total income 1.
  • The company has 11 product lines, each bringing in more than 100 million pounds (US$135 million) a year 1.
  • That mix of products and services has added to investor interest in its long-term growth 1.
  • It is also moving deeper into banking. Its lending portfolio rose 120% to 2.2 billion pounds (US$2.97 billion), which pushed interest income to 974 million pounds (US$1.32 billion) 1.

Revolut’s license drive supports global growth

  • Revolut is seeking banking licenses as part of a global plan. It is using its UK approval as a model for other large markets, including the US 1.
  • The move takes the company beyond a narrower set of financial products toward becoming a regulated global bank 2.
  • A US banking charter would give Revolut direct access to core payment systems. It would also let the firm originate loans and compete more closely with established US banks 2.
  • Other international digital banks are following the same path. Brazil’s Nubank and the UK’s Monzo are also seeking US banking charters as they pursue mainstream banking customers 2.
