UK diagnostics firm Cyted Health secures $44m series B
Cyted Health has raised US$44 million in the first close of its series B funding round to support its US expansion.
EQT Life Sciences led the round, with Advent Life Sciences and British Business Bank as co-leads, joined by existing investors Morningside and BGF.
The UK-based company develops gastrointestinal molecular diagnostics and will use the capital to grow its commercial operations in the US, strengthen its presence in the UK, and expand its diagnostic test portfolio.
Cyted’s EndoSign is an FDA-cleared device for minimally invasive esophageal cell collection, which supports biomarker molecular testing for esophageal conditions.
The company said it has completed over 35,000 tests with the UK’s National Health Service.
Cyted has also started the DETECT-ME clinical validation study in the US to validate new assays and molecular tests for esophageal conditions, with patient enrollment underway since March 2025.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Cyted enters a rapidly expanding diagnostic market with significant growth potential
The $44 million Series B positions Cyted to capture share in a substantial and growing market opportunity.
The global gastrointestinal diagnostics market was valued between $5.08-5.59 billion in recent years and is projected to reach $6.56-7.9 billion by 2030, with compound annual growth rates ranging from 4.3% to 6.8% across different market analyses 234.
This growth is driven by rising awareness of gastrointestinal disorders, technological advancements in diagnostic capabilities, and an aging population more susceptible to GI diseases 5.
North America represents the largest regional market, accounting for over 40% of global revenue, which explains Cyted’s strategic focus on US expansion 3.
The market dynamics favor companies like Cyted that offer minimally invasive diagnostic solutions, as there’s growing preference for less invasive procedures that can detect conditions earlier in the disease progression.
2️⃣ Early detection economics create compelling value proposition for healthcare systems
Cyted’s focus on early esophageal cancer detection addresses a critical healthcare economics challenge where timing dramatically impacts both outcomes and costs.
