UK boosts AI with new initiatives, infrastructure
The UK government has introduced initiatives to boost AI capabilities and computing infrastructure.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to announce these measures during a visit to Bristol, England on Monday.
The key goals include increasing public sector computing capacity twentyfold by 2030 and launching the AI Research Resource.
The government will also create AI “growth zones” with relaxed planning rules to support new data centers.
Support for these efforts will come from an “AI Energy Council,” which will explore renewable and low-carbon energy options for data center.
Despite challenges in funding, tech leaders commend the government’s “bold vision.”
