Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure provider, plans to build the UK’s largest AI supercomputer in partnership with Microsoft, with delivery of GPUs to Loughton expected in Q1 2027.

The facility will initially house 23,040 Nvidia GB300 GPUs, with a starting capacity of 50MW, scalable to 90MW.

Nscale, OpenAI, and Nvidia are also establishing Stargate UK, an infrastructure platform aimed at deploying OpenAI technology in the UK, with OpenAI exploring offtake of up to 8,000 Nvidia GPUs in Q1 2026 and potential to reach 31,000 over time.

Stargate UK is expected to be based across several locations, including Cobalt Park in the North East’s new AI Growth Zone.

Nscale’s broader plan involves deploying up to 58,640 NVIDIA GPUs in the UK and 300,000 globally.

The new AI campus will support Microsoft’s Azure services and forms part of the UK-US Technology Partnership.
