Uber wins approval for Getir delivery deal in Turkey
Turkey’s Competition Board said on June 19 it approved Uber’s acquisition of Getir’s delivery business in Türkiye from Mubadala, an Abu Dhabi sovereign investor.
The decision clears a deal the US company announced in February.
Uber said the deal covers Getir’s Türkiye delivery portfolio, including food, grocery, retail, and water delivery.
The board said Uber committed to invest US$500 million in Turkey. It said the investment was expected to support high-quality employment, strengthen local engineering capabilities, and contribute to the country’s digital and technology infrastructure.
The sale follows a 2024 restructuring in which Getir closed overseas operations to secure US$250 million in financing. The company also agreed to separate non-core businesses from its profitable grocery delivery business in Türkiye, which Mubadala would buy.
Uber said in February that the acquisition would expand its footprint in Türkiye.
