Uber to buy ezCater for $2.3b to expand catering business

Uber said it will buy ezCater, a US catering marketplace for workplace and large-group meals, in an all-cash deal worth US$2.3 billion, adding catering to Uber Eats.

Founded in 2007, ezCater generated more than US$2.5 billion in gross bookings over the past 12 months, according to Uber.

The acquisition extends Uber’s workplace meal business through Uber for Business, which already serves offices, delivers lunches, and handles group orders.

The deal follows Uber’s July 16, 2026, takeover bid for Delivery Hero, a Berlin-based food delivery company worth about US$14.8 billion. It also comes as US delivery rivals target office meals, with DoorDash for Business promoting office catering and Grubhub for Business offering group ordering.
