Uber teams up with Expedia for hotel listings
The hotel feature gives users access to Expedia listings that Uber said will expand to more than 700,000 properties.
Uber One members can earn 10% back in credits and get at least 20% off a rotating list of 10,000 hotels.
Uber also introduced Travel Mode, global Uber One benefits, Shop for Me, AI voice ride bookings, and a unified search bar.
Expedia plans to add Uber ride booking in its app in June, and Vrbo rentals will come to Uber later this year.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Expedia reaches Uber users as Uber tries to hold its ground
- The deal fits Expedia Group’s business-to-business (B2B) plan. It supplies travel inventory to brands including Chase Travel and Walmart 1.
- Working with Uber gives Expedia a new way to reach travelers already planning a trip. That lowers the direct marketing spend needed to win those bookings on its own 2.
- Uber is using the tie-up to protect its ride-hailing business, where one company often pulls ahead 3.
- Adding hotel and travel options gives people more reasons to open Uber. It also helps Uber capture more trip spending and add value to Uber One 2.
A tough test for a Western all-in-one app
- The integration is one of the clearest Western attempts at a “super app,” or an app that combines many services in one place. The model has worked in Asia with WeChat, Tencent’s all-in-one messaging, payments and services platform. US tech companies have struggled to match it 1.
- Uber framed the goal as cutting the hassle of juggling several apps for travel and daily tasks 2.
- The result will test whether people will book hotels inside an app they use more often for everyday services.
- A strong response could push more tech companies away from single-purpose apps and toward ecosystems built around frequent services such as transportation or communication.
