Uber partners with Naver to take on Kakao’s 90% ride-hailing lead
Uber has teamed up with Naver to offer its Uber One subscription to Naver Plus members in South Korea starting October 2025.
Uber has struggled against Kakao T, which holds 90% of the local ride-hailing market with 9.2 million monthly users, compared to Uber’s 850,000.
Uber One costs 4,900 won (US$3.46) per month or 49,000 won (US$34.55) annually, matching Kakao T’s membership fees.
The partnership gives Uber access to Naver’s nearly 40 million users, helping expand its customer base.
Uber has boosted vehicle supply, improved its dispatch algorithm, and launched services for teens and seniors, raising its Seoul market share to 7-8%.
