Uber founder Travis Kalanick’s Atoms raises $1.7b
Atoms, Travis Kalanick’s robotics company, has raised US$1.7 billion in an equity funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Bain Capital, Fifth Wall, Uber, and others also investing. Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Ben Horowitz will join the board.
The company is a rebranded holding company built on CloudKitchens, Kalanick’s ghost kitchen business, and Pronto, which develops autonomous haulage systems for off-road mining and heavy-industry trucks.
In March, Kalanick said Atoms would expand beyond food into mining and transport through Atoms Food, Atoms Mining, and Atoms Transport.
He has described Atoms Transport as a “wheelbase for robots.”
Atoms did not disclose its valuation, and it has not detailed the size of any related debt facility.
Uber’s participation reconnects Kalanick with the company he founded and was ousted from as CEO in 2017.
The funding round also comes as global robotics funding hit US$55.8 billion through early June 2026, according to Dealroom data.
