Uber ends Phoenix Waymo robotaxi program
Uber ended the Phoenix ride-hailing part of its robotaxi partnership with Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous driving company in the US.
The company said Phoenix was its first pilot market with Waymo and that the deployment was intentionally limited to just over a dozen vehicles, though they still handled hundreds of thousands of trips.
The ride-hailing program began in 2023. Waymo vehicles were later added to Uber Eats deliveries in parts of metro Phoenix in 2024 before that delivery partnership ended in May 2025.
The vehicles are being folded back into Waymo’s Phoenix fleet for trips booked through Waymo, a public transit integration with Via Transportation, and deliveries with DoorDash.
Phoenix riders can still book directly through the Waymo app.
Uber said it plans to launch another autonomous vehicle program in Phoenix but has not named a partner.
Its local autonomous vehicle page says robotaxi rides are not yet available there.
