Uber to acquire Turkey’s Getir delivery business for $335m
Uber has announced a US$335 million deal to acquire Turkish startup Getir’s food delivery business in Türkiye, pending regulatory approval.
The company also plans to invest US$100 million for a 15% stake in Getir’s grocery, retail, and water delivery units in Türkiye.
The acquisition aims to integrate Getir and Uber’s Trendyol Go platform, which Uber previously acquired a majority stake in.
Once finalized, Getir users will continue using the existing app while gaining access to Trendyol Go’s restaurant network.
Trendyol Go users will be able to access Getir services through their app. The deal is expected to close in the coming years, subject to performance conditions.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Uber is buying into a fast-growing market, not only a troubled startup
- The purchase targets Türkiye’s online food delivery market, valued at $16.52 billion in 2026 and expected to climb to $31.14 billion by 2031 1.
- Uber gets a scaled operation in Türkiye, not only a familiar name.
- Getir’s food delivery business in Türkiye brought in over $1 billion in gross bookings, the total value of customer orders before fees and refunds, in 2025. That figure rose more than 50% from the prior year on a constant currency basis 2.
- The move follows Uber’s agreement to buy an 85% stake in Trendyol Go (a Türkiye-based food and grocery delivery platform) for about $700 million in cash. The deal still needs regulatory approval, and it ties to a push to roll up a fragmented market through acquisitions 3.
Uber’s move points to consolidation and raises the stakes for startups
- Mature tech firms often lean on cash and borrowing capacity to buy share in high-growth regions rather than build from scratch 4.
- Getir’s path reads as a warning for founders and backers.
- After a peak valuation of about $12 billion, Getir pulled back international operations in 2024 to refocus on Türkiye. Uber has agreed to purchase Getir’s delivery portfolio in Türkiye, including food, grocery, retail, and water delivery, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions 5.
- The hardest part comes next. Uber must combine Getir’s operations with Trendyol Go while keeping operating costs from wiping out scale gains 4.
