UAE sovereign fund clashes with Turkish startup over ownership
The dispute between the founders of Turkish quick grocery delivery startup Getir and primary investor Mubadala Investment Co. is set to escalate at an extraordinary general meeting in Amsterdam this Sunday.
Mubadala, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, announced it has reached a “new transaction” agreement for Getir, approved by independent board members.
A central issue is Mubadala’s assertion that Getir’s founders did not finalize a restructuring deal from June 2023.
The fund claims the upcoming transaction will ensure Getir’s financial stability and ongoing business operations.
Getir co-founder Nazim Salur has denied these claims, alleging that Mubadala seeks to eliminate the founders’ ownership stake.
Other investors in Getir include Alpha Wave Global, Sequoia Capital, Tiger Global, and Turkish firms Revo Capital and Esas Holding. Shareholders will cast their votes on Mubadala’s proposed transaction this weekend.
