UAE navigates US chip technology amid security concerns
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is committed to securing advanced chip technologies to bolster its technological position and strengthen its collaboration with the United States.
Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, a prominent UAE AI firm, emphasized this commitment during a conference in Dubai, acknowledging rising US concerns regarding the potential transfer of chip technology to China.
Concerns are mounting in Washington that sensitive technologies might inadvertently benefit Beijing.
This has prompted the Biden administration to consider restrictions on chip sales from American companies like Nvidia and AMD to Middle Eastern countries.
In response to U.S. concerns, G42 divested from Chinese companies, including ByteDance, a strategic move that signifies the UAE’s intention to present itself as a secure partner for the U.S.
