Two Chinese biotech firms sign $2.5b global drug deals

Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group and Leads Biolabs, two biotech companies from China, have signed drug licensing agreements with global firms worth up to US$2.5 billion in total.

Hansoh, based in Jiangsu province, will license global rights—except in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan—for a colon cancer drug candidate to Roche.

The deal includes US$80 million upfront and up to US$1.5 billion in milestone payments, dependent on meeting development, regulatory, and commercial targets.

The drug candidate is an antibody-drug conjugate aimed at a molecule linked to gastrointestinal cancers.

Antibody-drug conjugates use targeted antibodies to deliver chemotherapy directly to cancer cells.

Details of Leads Biolabs’ agreement were not disclosed in the filing.
