Twitch is pulling out of South Korea on February 27 next year due to high network operating costs, which are reportedly 10x more expensive than in most other markets, making operations unsustainable. The livestreaming platform – which has been in competition with AfreecaTV in the country – tried implementing cost-cutting measures but has found “no pathway forward” in South Korea.
