Turkey to invest $2b in high-tech sectors by 2025: minister
Turkey’s government plans to boost high-tech investments in 2025, focusing on biotechnology, industrial robotics, and hyperscale data centers.
Mehmet Fatih Kacir, the country’s minister of industry and technology, announced a US$2 billion investment package, with the first phase starting in February.
In 2024, Turkey achieved key milestones, including the launch of its first indigenous communication satellite, Turksat 6A, and advancements in its lunar program. The country has also emerged as a notable player in EV and battery technologies.
Kacir highlighted Turkey’s industrial production as the highest-growing among OECD countries over the past 22 years, attracting US$7 billion in investments.
The government is currently negotiating with BYD and Chery to establish EV production and R&D in Turkey.
Additional investments in the southeastern region and neighboring Syria, including the Southeastern Anatolia Project and Konya Plain Project, aim to drive economic growth by 2028.
