Turkey’s competition authority has ended its investigation into Meta Platforms regarding data-sharing between its social media platforms, Threads and Instagram.

The decision came after Meta offered commitments addressing the authority’s concerns.

Users in Turkey will soon be able to access Threads without needing to link or create an Instagram account.

Furthermore, Meta has assured that data from Threads will not be combined with Instagram user data unless explicitly chosen by users.

The investigation was initiated last year to assess potential competition law breaches related to platform integration.

Meta had paused Threads in Turkey to adhere to a temporary order from the competition board.
