TSMC urges Taiwan’s chip sector to strengthen supply chain
A senior executive from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has highlighted the need for Taiwan’s chip industry to enhance research and supply chain proficiency to maintain its global leadership.
Cliff Hou, TSMC’s senior VP and chairman of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association, emphasized partnering with foreign entities to build design and material centers in Taiwan.
These comments followed the re-election of Donald Trump as United States president, a development potentially affecting Taiwan’s international position.
Trump previously remarked that Taiwan should contribute to US defense costs.
