TSMC Q4 profit expected to rise 27% as AI demand grows

TSMC is expected to report a 27% rise in Q4 net profit, reaching a record T$475.2 billion (US$15 billion), driven by strong demand for AI chips.

The Taiwan-based company is the world’s largest contract chipmaker and a key supplier to Nvidia and Apple.

Analysts from LSEG SmartEstimate, based on forecasts from 19 experts, predict the company will post its highest-ever quarterly net income for the period ending December 31, 2025.

TSMC’s Q4 revenue rose 20.5%, surpassing market expectations, fueled by full use of its 3-nanometre production capacity and continued demand for AI infrastructure.

The company will release its Q1 and full-year guidance in an earnings call on January 15, 2026.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Advanced packaging limits AI supply at TSMC

  • 3nm lines run full, yet the bottleneck sits in advanced packaging. CoWoS links AI GPUs to High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) at required speeds 1.
  • TSMC doubled CoWoS output to about 120,000 wafers per month by early 2026 1. The company aims for roughly 130,000 by year-end 2, but demand still runs ahead, with Nvidia set to take over 60% in 2026 2.
  • How fast TSMC adds packaging lines will decide if AI revenue holds after 2026. Thursday’s guidance on expansion matters more than chip production metrics 2.

TSMC’s $165 billion Arizona build spurs orders across the supply chain

  • The Arizona build needs construction and facility services 3. It also needs automation gear, manufacturing execution systems (software that manages and monitors factory operations), IT infrastructure, and specialty materials for advanced semiconductor fabrication.
  • Suppliers and investors should track vendor registration and request-for-quotation windows. TSMC ships over 12,000 products across about 300 technologies, each with unique inputs 1.
  • The $45 to $50 billion capital expenditure planned for 2026 equals the purchasing needed to build several large data centers at once. Equipment makers, materials suppliers, and industrial service firms that meet TSMC’s quality bar stand to gain 2.
