Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is discussing with Nvidia the production of its Blackwell AI chips at TSMC’s upcoming Arizona facility, according to sources.

The plant is expected to start volume production next year.

While it may handle the initial manufacturing process for the Blackwell chips, packaging still requires Taiwan’s facilities.

The Arizona plant lacks the chip-on-wafer-on-substrate (CoWoS) capabilities essential for these chips, according to sources.
