TSMC lifts 2026 revenue outlook on AI chip demand
TSMC said at its July 16 earnings briefing that second-quarter revenue reached US$40.2 billion, the high end of its forecast.
Net profit attributable to parent company shareholders rose 23.4% from the prior quarter to NT$706.6 billion (US$21.9 billion), driven by strong AI-related demand and sales of advanced process technologies.
The company raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook in US dollar terms to slightly more than 40% from more than 30% and forecast third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion.
It also lifted its 2026 capital spending outlook to US$60 billion to US$64 billion from US$52 billion to US$56 billion, a prior range that already implied up to 40% growth from the 2025 figure.
Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei also said TSMC would add US$100 billion to its US investment, bringing the total to US$265 billion, including additional Arizona wafer fabs and advanced packaging plants.
The existing Arizona project has up to US$6.6 billion in CHIPS Act support for three Phoenix fabs.
The expansion comes as capacity for advanced chip packaging remains tight, with Nvidia reported to have reserved a majority of TSMC’s most advanced packaging capacity.
