TSMC denies US probe linking chips to Huawei devices

TSMC has denied allegations of a US Commerce Department investigation related to its involvement with Huawei.

This follows media reports claiming detection of TSMC chips in Huawei products.

Reports from The Information last week suggested a probe into whether TSMC supplied AI or smartphone chips to Huawei. Such dealings might breach US export laws.

TSMC responded, asserting compliance with all relevant laws, including export controls. The company stated it was not aware of any current investigations.

Since being blacklisted by the US in 2019 over national security concerns, Huawei has not reportedly received chips from TSMC since September 2020.
