TSMC to build 4 new plants in Taiwan

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) will begin construction of four new plants in the Central Taiwan Science Park later this year.

The company aims to start producing 2-nanometer semiconductor wafers by late 2028, as announced by Hsu Maw-shin, director-general of the Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau.

The facilities, designated as Fab 25, will include four plants for manufacturing 1.4-nanometer wafers.

The first plant is expected to complete risk assessments for wafer production by 2027.

Mass production is scheduled to begin by the end of 2028, with a target monthly output projected at 50,000 wafers.
