TSMC achieves $26.3b in Q4 revenue due to growing AI demand
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the largest contract chipmaker globally, reported fourth-quarter revenue of NT$868.42 billion (around US$26.3 billion) for the period of October to December 2024.
This figure shows a 34.4% increase from the same period in the previous year, primarily due to high demand for chips used in AI.
The company had projected fourth-quarter revenue between US$26.1 billion and US$26.9 billion during its earnings call in October.
The reported revenue surpasses the LSEG market estimate of NT%$853.57 billion (around US$$25.8 billion).
In December alone, TSMC’s revenue reached NT$278.16 billion, reflecting a significant year-on-year increase of 57.8%. However, the company did not provide further details in its statement.
TSMC will release its complete fourth-quarter earnings report and its outlook for the current quarter and full year on January 16.
The company’s stock, which rose by 81% in 2024, remained unchanged during Friday trading.
