Trump’s coin earns $100m in trading fees

Entities behind US President Donald Trump’s crypto coin have earned close to US$100 million in trading fees in two weeks since the launch on Jan. 17. This estimate is based on data from three blockchain analysis firms.

Blockchain firms estimate the trading fees generated ranged ranged from US$86 million to US$100 million by Jan. 30.

CIC Digital, a known entity associated with Trump, benefits from these trading fees, but it’s unclear whether Trump directly received any of them.

Over 200,000 wallets, mainly belonging to small traders, suffered losses, while major investors profited.

The $Trump coin, managed through various entities including Fight Fight Fight and CIC Digital, has faced criticism over its ownership structure and potential conflicts of interest.

Ethics experts raise concerns about the intertwining of business and political affiliations.
