Trump’s AI plan aims to make US tech global standard

The Trump administration has announced a new AI policy blueprint designed to position American technology as the global standard for AI.

The plan includes measures to facilitate the export of AI-related hardware and software to US allies, according to Michael Kratsios, the White House science and technology director.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Kratsios highlighted the goal of promoting American AI infrastructure, such as cloud services, chips, and algorithms, as the preferred worldwide ecosystem.

This announcement follows the release of the administration’s AI Action Plan, which outlines steps to accelerate AI development in the US.

The plan suggests easing regulations and expediting permitting for AI infrastructure.

It also includes increasing energy supplies for data centers and enhancing global partnerships.

President Donald Trump signed three executive orders to implement aspects of the plan. These orders direct efforts to streamline permitting, promote AI exports, and ensure government-procured large language models remain neutral.

Additionally, the blueprint calls for stricter export controls and new location verification features for AI chips. This approach contrasts with a recent US decision to relax restrictions on AI chip sales to China, including Nvidia’s H20 chips.

White House Senior Policy Advisor on AI Sriram Krishnan defended this decision. He said it enhances US competitiveness and counters China’s technological influence.
