Trump urges Microsoft to fire global affairs chief Lisa Monaco

US President Donald Trump has called for Microsoft to fire Lisa Monaco, its president of global affairs, citing her past roles under Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Trump said on Truth Social that Monaco’s access to sensitive information was “unacceptable” due to her service as a deputy attorney general in the Biden administration and as a national security aide under Obama.

Earlier this year, he revoked her security clearance along with several other former officials.

Monaco, who joined Microsoft in May 2025, oversees cybersecurity and government relations.

Microsoft declined to comment on Trump’s statement.

Activist Laura Loomer also criticized Microsoft’s decision to hire Monaco and called for the cancellation of the company’s government contracts.
