Trump likely to keep US AI chip export restrictions
The Trump administration is expected to continue the recent US restrictions on the export of AI chips, according to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
These rules, introduced at the end of President Joe Biden’s term, aim to limit the sale of advanced AI processors to certain countries, particularly targeting China.
Sullivan added that a 120-day comment period will allow the incoming administration to evaluate and possibly alter these regulations.
The regulations have also prompted scrutiny from lawmakers, notably Senator Ted Cruz, who is considering legislative action against the measures.
