On Jan. 20, President Donald Trump signed several executive orders to reverse electric vehicle (EV) policies and reduce tailpipe emissions standards established during the Biden administration.

The orders aim to halt funding for EV infrastructure, retract emissions requirements, and review federal tax credits for EVs.

Over US$7 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act allocated for EV charging infrastructure will also be reassessed.

The directives direct federal agencies to pinpoint restrictions that impose “undue burdens” on domestic energy resource development, including oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear energy.
