Trump nominates crypto-tied officials for key federal roles

The Trump administration has nominated individuals with cryptocurrency ties for key regulatory roles, signaling a focus on digital asset policy.

Brian Quintenz, a former commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is nominated to chair the agency overseeing derivatives markets.

Currently leading crypto policy at VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, Quintenz is positioned to influence blockchain and digital asset innovation.

Jonathan Gould, former chief legal officer at Bitfurry, is nominated as Comptroller of the Currency.

Luke Petit, an aide to Senator Bill Hagerty,  is nominated for an assistant secretary role in the Treasury Department.

These nominations come as stablecoin regulation and the debanking of crypto-focused entities are debated.

Pending legislation suggests the comptroller may play a central role in regulating stablecoins.

The nominations await Senate approval.
