Trump hosts first White House crypto summit
On Mar. 8, US President Donald Trump held the first-ever White House Crypto Summit, bringing together key figures from the cryptocurrency sector. This followed an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a Digital Asset Stockpile.
Attendees included Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, Strategy chairman Michael Saylor, and Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov.
Discussions focused on digital asset legislation, stablecoin regulation, and the bitcoin reserve framework.
The Strategic Bitcoin Reserve will hold bitcoin acquired through legal forfeitures, ensuring no taxpayer money is used. Other confiscated cryptocurrencies will be managed separately by the Treasury Department.
The reserve, estimated at 200,000 bitcoin, will be audited and treated as a long-term asset, not for sale.
The summit highlights the administration’s commitment to integrating financial innovation with US strategic interests.
