President-elect Donald Trump is expected to maintain the CHIPS and Science Act implemented by the Biden administration, according to experts.

The bipartisan law, signed in August 2022, provides around US$53 billion to boost US semiconductor manufacturing and compete with China.

During the election, Trump criticized its funding but suggested increased tariffs as an alternative.

Experts like Paul Triolo and Adam Posen say Trump may adjust some funding allocations but see a major rollback as unlikely.
