Trump clears Anthropic after foreign access curbs

US President Donald Trump said he no longer viewed Anthropic or chief executive Dario Amodei as a national security threat.

The comments came after the AI company restricted foreign access to its most advanced models, in an interview published on June 19.

Anthropic last week disabled access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all users, after the US government ordered it to block foreign nationals from using the models.

Senior technical staff were also scheduled to meet Trump administration officials earlier this week to discuss the dispute.

The order barred foreigners from accessing Anthropic’s top models. The company responded by disabling the two advanced systems for everyone.

Trump said Amodei responded “very quickly” and “responsibly,” and said he could still invoke emergency powers under the Defense Production Act if needed.
