Trump calls meeting with Nvidia CEO ‘good’ on AI policy

US President Donald Trump and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met at the White House on Jan. 31, to discuss AI and semiconductor exports, according to a source familiar with the meeting.

The meeting comes as the US considers stricter restrictions on AI chip exports to China to maintain its edge in advanced technologies.

No additional details about the meeting were disclosed publicly.

However, Trump called it “a good meeting,” and an Nvidia spokesperson confirmed the discussions focused on “semiconductors and AI policy.”

The discussions occur amid growing concerns over China’s AI advancements.

Recently, Chinese company DeepSeek launched a cost-effective AI assistant, causing a significant market reaction. Nvidia’s shares dropped 17%, and major US tech stocks lost US$1 trillion in value.
