Trump-backed crypto firm promotes $1 stablecoin in SG

World Liberty Financial, a stablecoin startup backed by the Trump family, promoted its USD1 token at Token2049 in Singapore on October 1.

The company, founded by Donald Trump Jr. and CEO Zach Witkoff, says USD1 is a stablecoin backed by US Treasury securities.

At the event, Trump Jr. highlighted the token’s growth and said the venture is not a political entity but aims to support the US dollar’s global position.

Witkoff announced plans for a debit card enabling Apple Pay users to pay with USD1, with a pilot set for the next quarter and a launch targeted for late 2025 or early 2026.

World Liberty Financial’s push comes as stablecoins like Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC dominate the market, with market values of US$172 billion and US$74 billion, respectively.
