Trump allocates $50m for AI in pediatric cancer research

US President Donald Trump has signed an order directing US$50 million toward AI-driven pediatric cancer research.

The initiative will be overseen by the Make America Healthy Again Commission and the Office of Science and Technology Policy, using data from a childhood cancer initiative launched during Trump’s first term.

Officials said the funding will double the data initiative’s budget and support projects that apply AI to improve clinical trials, diagnostics, treatments, and prevention for childhood cancer.

Researchers plan to use electronic health records and claims data to design studies and build models that predict patient responses to therapies.
