True IDC to invest over $183m in Bangkok data center
Bangkok-based True Internet Data Center said on June 19 that it would invest more than 6 billion baht (US$183 million) in its seventh data center in northern Bangkok.
The company is Thailand’s largest data center and cloud provider.
Its shareholders include CP Group and Global Infrastructure Partners, part of BlackRock.
The company said the facility is due to launch in the third quarter of 2027 to meet rising demand for cloud and AI services. It will support high-density central processing unit and graphics processing unit workloads with air and liquid cooling.
True IDC said it has more than 150 MW of power capacity and four data centers in Thailand and one in Myanmar.
The expansion comes as Thailand’s Board of Investment has approved 37 data center projects worth more than 98.6 billion baht (US$3 billion). The agency also offers tax and ownership incentives to attract cloud infrastructure.
Market analysis said Thailand’s approved pipeline covers at least 2,066 MW of information technology load capacity. Power distribution has emerge as a constraint for large projects.
Managing director Thanasorn Jaidee cited IDC estimates that Asia-Pacific investment in AI and generative AI would reach 11 trillion baht (US$335 billion) by 2029, up 5x from current levels.
