Trip.com halts Cambodia tourism partnership over safety concerns

Trip.com Group has suspended its planned tourism partnership with Cambodia’s tourism authority, saying the collaboration never actually launched.

The partnership was scheduled for September 2025 to March 2026, but was halted due to safety alerts from the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

Since early December, the embassy has issued five warnings, including alerts on border clashes and scams.

At least 46 Chinese nationals have been rescued from digital scam centres since late November.

Trip.com said the agreement does not involve any data cooperation or disclosure of user privacy information.

The suspension comes as Cambodia seeks to attract more Chinese tourists, including a visa-free trial from June 15 to October 15, 2026.
