Trading platform RateX bags $10.4m for Solana finance platform
RateX, a yield trading protocol on the Solana blockchain, has raised US$10.4 million across three funding rounds over the past two years.
The latest round brought in US$7 million and included investors such as Animoca Ventures, ECHO, GSR, Crypto.com Capital, Gate, Rzong Capital, BGX Capital, and Summer Capital.
RateX operates a protocol that allows users to trade and manage yield on Solana through tokenized financial products.
The company recently launched an upgrade, called Mooncake, which enables leveraged token trading without liquidations.
In June, DeFi Development Corp., a US-based public company focused on Solana, announced a strategic integration of its staking token with RateX’s ecosystem to access additional yield strategies.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
On-chain data has RateX growing, yet niche in Solana DeFi
- RateX holds $52.12 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) on Solana with $10.6 million in weekly DEX activity 1. Cumulative turnover totals $857 million 1.
- Daily trading sits at $1.25 million against a $13.6 billion DEX market 2, which makes RateX a specialized protocol. The Mooncake upgrade adds liquidation-free leverage. Public adoption metrics remain absent.
- RateX offers up to 10x leverage on yield tokens via margin trading of YT/ST pairs 3 (Yield Token/Staking Token, where YT isolates yield and ST represents the principal). Revenue comes from fees split 50/50 with liquidity providers (LPs) plus a 5% cut on position yields 4. It differs from TermFinance, a fixed-rate lender with $11.74 million borrowed 5.
Wallets and trading platforms can add leveraged Solana yields
- Wallet providers and neobrokers (app-based brokerage platforms) get structured Solana yield via leveraged YT-JLP 6. Integration needs a link to RateX smart contracts 4. Support for SOL (Solana’s native token), JitoSOL (a liquid staking token issued by Jito), and JLP (a liquidity provider token representing a share of a pool) is also required 4.
- Analytics platforms can ship dashboards since the protocol uses Time-Weighted Average Price (TWAP) collateral ratios 4 and price-cage rules that confine trading within ±10% of the 24-hour TWAP 3.
- For custodians (institutional crypto asset holders and administrators), rebasing ST tokens like ST-JLP (balances auto-increase with official Annual Percentage Yield (APY) rates) form a new token class that may need specialized accounting 6.
