Toyota, Joby Aviation test first air taxi in Japan
California-based electric taxi startup Joby Aviation has conducted its first air taxi test in Japan.
The trial was a collaboration with Toyota Motor focused on the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) sector.
As of October 2024, Toyota Motor has pledged an additional investment of US$500 million into Joby Aviation’s eVTOL project.
This investment is a part of Toyota’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
