SmartBank, Inc., a Tokyo-based financial platform, has announced the first close of its series B funding round, raising 4.08 billion yen (around US$26.5 million).

The company aims to transition its platform from a household finance management app to an AI-driven financial system.

The funding includes investments from SMBC-GB Growth Fund, Seven Bank, Japan Post Bank, and Spiral Regional Innovation 1 Investment Limited Partnership. Existing investors also joined this round.

In April 2024, SmartBank obtained 1.15 billion yen (around US$7.4 million) in debt financing from multiple financial institutions.
