Tokyo Electron unveils $61.5m Taiwan operations center

Tokyo Electron Ltd, a chip production machinery manufacturer, has opened a NT$2 billion (US$61.5 million) operations center in Tainan, southern Taiwan.

The center is intended to enhance production efficiency and equipment service for customers.

Located near major client factories, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the center will potentially employ up to 1,000 individuals.

The six-floor building houses a repair center and a testing lab. Repairs in Japan, once taking seven months, now take just one to two months locally.
