US tokenization firm Securitize gets SEC adviser license
Securitize, a US-based tokenization infrastructure company, said its subsidiary, Securitize Capital, has registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an investment adviser.
The registration allows Securitize to work with more asset managers and institutional investors using onchain strategies.
It also expands Securitize’s regulated businesses, which include broker-dealer, alternative trading system, transfer agent, and fund administration services.
The move comes as tokenized securities remain subject to US federal securities laws. Regulators are examining how securities rules apply to onchain products.
Securities and Exchange Commission Commissioner Hester Peirce said on July 22 that certain crypto vaults and lending strategies could fall under investment adviser rules, depending on how they are structured and managed.
Securitize has built tokenized vault infrastructure, including permissioned lending vaults with Euler, and partners with BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, and VanEck.
It issues BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenized money market fund and completed its public listing earlier this month under the ticker SECZ.
