US tokenization firm Securitize eyes $400m SPAC debut
Securitize, a US-based provider of tokenization infrastructure for financial assets, expects to raise about US$400 million through its merger with Cantor Fitzgerald-backed special purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners II after lower-than-expected shareholder redemptions.
If shareholders approve the deal on June 29, it is scheduled to close on July 1.
The combined company is then expected to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange on July 2 under the ticker SECZ.
Securitize helps tokenize assets such as funds, bonds, and private credit.
In the US, it operates as a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered broker-dealer, transfer agent, fund administrator, and operator of an SEC-regulated alternative trading system.
Asset managers using its platform include BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, and Hamilton Lane.
The Securities and Exchange Commission said in January 2026 that a tokenized security is still a security, highlighting why those licenses matter for issuing and trading blockchain-based securities.
The tokenized real-world asset market totals more than US$30 billion, excluding stablecoins.
US Treasuries and money market funds are the largest category at about US$12.9 billion, ahead of tokenized private credit at about US$5 billion and non-Treasury bonds at about US$1.77 billion.
