Malaysia-based nanoSkunkWorkX, a startup that develops thin-film interfaces for semiconductors, hydrogen systems, and diagnostics, said on September 2 it raised US$2 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Singapore-based venture capital firm Tin Men Capital.

The startup said it will use the funding for semiconductor partner qualification, scaling its interface-engineering platform, and advancing hydrogen validation and diagnostic programs in Asia.

The round adds to earlier backing from Gobi Dana Impak and Malaysia’s Kumpulan Modal Perdana.

Co-founded in 2019 by former National Aeronautics and Space Administration principal investigator Dr Amani Salim and Iqbal Shamsul, nanoSkunkWorkX said Tin Men Capital is its first Singaporean investor.

The company also said it generated its first revenue.
